Hanna

Who knew that Jason Bourne was actually a 15 year old German girl? I know I was surprised when I figured it out.

Hanna would kick the crap out of the girls of Sucker Punch and then say some clever catch phrase in 5 different languages to the pile of sexiness on the ground. Truly a fun movie to watch as it starts off with excitement and end just the same way...Really, it does!

Basic Plot:
Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) may look like your stereotypical teenage German girl, but she's a trained killer who has spent her entire life preparing for one task. Learning from her father the skills of survival and killing, Hanna finally reaches the point when she must put her skills to the test, and sets out across Europe to find and kill an CIA operative (Cate Blanchett). Hanna eventually uncovers some secrets from the past that cause her to question everything she has ever known.

Thumbs Up:
  • All the music is by The Chemical Brothers.
  • 1 hour 51 minutes long.
  • Eric Banna's acting is great.
  • Saoirse Ronan, relativily unknown actress plays her role fantastically.
  • Interesting to see a "Coming of age/spy-thriller" movie.

Thumbs Down:
  • I seen a lot of mistakes in the movie..."Music" is not a few pages away in the encyclopedia from "Blue Whale".
  • No one really questions a 15 year old girl "traveling" alone?
  • What ever happened to Hanna's friend and family?
  • There were a few scenes that either went on too long, or didn't even need to happen.
  • Ending, although coming back full circle, was kinda predictable and a little open ended.
  • Hanna had all this knowledge of the world but TV, Lights, Boiling water, and a Shower was so frighting to her? I find it hard to believe she would have not learned about such things.

Hanna was a interesting spin on the Spy/Thriller movie we are all accustom to and along with a solid mission involved, it has the side story of her experiencing what the real world is like. However in the end it is more or less predictable in almost every way and still follows the basic script of the spy movie genre. Cate Blanchett is a great nemesis and her American accent is pretty fun but I could see where her character was headed from the moment I seen the trailer.
One of the better movies out in the last little while and much better female action then Sucker Punch but movie predictability and minor errors that I easily spotted in the story didn't help much. Acting was pretty solid and I would say check it out if you have the time and want some thrill.

3 Stars
